Will there be a problem if I write a personal check (citizens bank) to someone in Trinidad?

They could find it hard to find a place that will accept the check, not all banks will accept foreign checks. It will take some time, a week or more, to clear the check. They also may have high fees both for check cashing and currency exchange.
