Itunes says file directory is corrupted or unreadable. But I formatted my comp. Anyway to get songs off it?

I had to format my computer a few weeks ago, so all my music is on my ipod. I tried using ephpod before the ipod broke, but my ipod is my K drive and ephpod only goes up to an H drive. i noticed the ipod was broken when on was on a mountain so it might have been from the cold, but i pressed next on a playlist and the ipod just kept skipping through all the songs like the files weren't there. I had someone look at it when that happened and they said there was a clicking noise which meant basically the hard drive was getting destroyed. I switched it to disk mode so the clicking would stop, so I hoping I can still salvage some of the music. My warranty is up cause this is the second ipod apple gave me. Does anyone know of anyway to get the music back. I don't care about the ipod cause its an older one anyway, but I want my music.
